San Deigo Chargers linebacker Manti Te’o still isn’t practicing and is expected to be unavailable for the season opener. When Te’o originally sprained his right foot it was expected to be a serious injury but now it looks like one that could have him sidelined for over a month.

Te’o was spotted wearing a walking boot but on August 20th it was reported that he was out of his walking boot.

He will be out there when he is ready to go,” rookie coach Mike McCoy said, when asked if Te’o would return to practice nearly two weeks ago. “He’s getting better every day and working extremely hard with James and the rest of the crew inside. When he’s ready to be out there, he will be practicing.”

Te’o is eager to return.

“The saying goes you don’t know what you got until it’s gone and it’s only been a week and a half and I’m already itching to get back on the field,” Te’o said. “I’m getting all the mental reps, I’m taking the practice script with me and watching what plays are going and trying to play the plays in my head. Even though I’m not in there physically, I’m just as much in it mentally.”
