New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks decided to play it safe this offseason and preseason in an effort to start the season healthy. Nicks is saying that the plan worked and he’ll be ready for the season opener and full speed.

“Definitely benefited from it,” Nicks added of his plan after laboring through knee and foot injuries last season. “Same time, it helped me get to this point to where my body feels the best it has felt in a long time.”

“I definitely feel like I am as good as I can be at this point,” Nicks said, via ESPN. “It is game time now. Everything counts. It’s time to get it.”

Nicks was left off the New York Giants injury report yesterday. Last season he caught 53 passes for 692 yards and 3 touchdowns as he fought through injuries. It was his second lowest reception total in his career and his lowest career total for yards. Before last season he had over 1,000 yards receiving in each of the previous two seasons.
