San Francisco 49ers Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio says he expects cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to play on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Asomugh had been held to limited practice on Wednesday due to an ailing collarbone.

Asomugha has been in competition with Tramaine Brock for the No. 3 slot all preseason and seemed to nudge ahead of Brock as the regular season neared. While the No. 3 slot plays behind Carlos Rogers and Chris Culliver, the 49ers use a lot of nickle and dime sets, both of which use three cornerbacks. Against a pass heavy team like Green Bay, Asomugha should see plenty of time if he’s fully healthy.
