When the Pittsburgh Steelers take to Heinz Field to open up the 2013 season against the Tennessee Titans, there may be no more excited player than newly acquired running back Felix Jones.

The former first-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys, who never lived up to expectations, made a pit stop in Philadelphia before finding a home for the 2013 campaign in Pittsburgh, a place where he has a golden opportunity to revitalize his once fading career.

While Isaac Redman will get the start against the Titans, expect to see a good bit of Jones as well, whose speed will be a nice change of pace in this Steelers’ offense.

It’s been a roller coaster of a couple of weeks for Jones, who found himself fighting to be the No. 3 back on the Eagles roster, only to open the season as the No. 2 back with the Steelers.

The injury to rookie Le’Veon Bell, along with the release of Jonathan Dwyer  helped Jones ascend  the depth chart in Pittsburgh, which means he will likely get the opportunity to make an impact on Sunday, something that didn’t look possible just two weeks ago.

Now that he has made the roster, expect Jones to spell Redman quite a bit as he is a viable pass catcher out of the backfield and his speed gives the Steelers a home run threat out of the backfield, something they didn’t have previously on the roster.

However making a team has never been a problem for Jones, producing consistently has been.

Now that he has an opportunity, we will soon find out if Jones can take advantage of it.

It could be his final chance.
