With the NFL and college football in full-swing right now, the main focus on the sports world is on the game played primarily on Saturdays and Sundays, butt hat doesn’t mean it’s too early to take a look at who will be some of the top teams in college basketball when the 2013-14 season opens.

The Sporting News released their preseason top-25, and the Kentucky Wildcats came in at No.1, despite missing the tournament last year and falling in the first round of the NIT tournament.

"Archie Goodwin turned pro but Willie Cauley-Stein and Alex Poythress are back. Losing Goodwin is not without its costs, but what the Wildcats really needed in order for their overwhelming influx of young talent—the No. 1 prospect in the 2013 class at four of the five positions—to help the team confidently challenge for an NCAA championship was physical maturity in the frontcourt along with at least a hint of veteran leadership. And they’ve got that now."

The defending National Champion Louisville Cardinals came in at No. 3, and both clubs will likely be in the top-5 when they square off in the annual in-state showdown this year, and that game will also feature the past two National Champions.
