The Cincinnati Bengals would love to have offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth back in time for Monday’s matchup against the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Whitworth insists he’s healthy enough to play, and it’s a matter of when, not if he’ll play this season.

He also admitted to having a second procedure done on the knee, which explains why it’s taking so long to recover:

"“We had a little procedure done. The quicker you go post-procedure, you’re endangering yourself, so we had to give ourselves a little time to heal and as soon as we’re ready we’re ready. It’s Marvin’s call,” Whitworth said of head coach Marvin Lewis.Whitworth said his rehab from the offseason surgery had been going well until training camp. when he said he suffered an injury that wasn’t altogether related.“What’s crazy, just bad luck, or a bad day, it was a totally different episode that caused another injury because you’re already dealing wth something that already has been worked on,” he said."

He’s arguably the best pass-blocking lineman the Bengals have. There’s a small chance Whitworth could be available for Monday night’s game against the Steelers, but he should be considered questionable “at best” right now.
