The Carolina Panthers defense took a hit on Sunday. They’ve lost safety Charles Godfrey for the remainder of the 2013 season after he tore his Achilles in the game against the Buffalo Bills.

“When I got back up and started walking a little bit more, I said, ‘Man, it’s probably a good idea that I go down,’” said Godfrey Sunday about injuring himself in the game.

This seems like a huge blow to the Panthers secondary but Godfrey was more optimistic about his teammates.

“What happened to me, it’s out of my control. Just roll with the punches,” Godfrey said, via the Charlotte Observer. “Everybody will be fine. We’ll step up.”

That was just one of many injuries to the Panthers’ secondary. Cornerback Josh Thomas left the game in the first have with a concussion and didn’t return. Cornerback Josh Norman left the game for a bit with a thigh injury. Defensive back D.J. More sprained his knee and was wearing a brace after the game. Safety Quintin Mikell sprained a knee ligament in the second half but finished the game.
