The Dallas Mavericks offseason didn’t go exactly the way they had planned but it went well nevertheless. They signed guards Monta Ellis and Jose Calderon and hope that the bolstered back court will take them back to the playoffs. There are still doubters though, and Ellis told the Ben & Skin Show on 105.3 the Fan.

From the Dallas Morning News:

"On playing with another ball handler like Jose Calderon:“It’s gonna be exciting, man. That’s all I can really say, because he can shoot the ball, and like you said, he’s a pass-first point guard. I haven’t had one of those since ’07 when Baron Davis was on the team, and with his ability to shoot the ball… If I can come in and get to the basket and make the defense move and find open guys, I think it’s going to be a great tandem between the two of us. A lot of people are doubting us or they put a burn into me, and hopefully him, and we’re gonna do everything we can to make this work and prove everybody wrong.”"

The Mavericks certainly hope so after a poor follow up performance in the playoffs after winning the 2011 NBA Championship and missing the playoffs last year.
