There have been recent reports that New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram had requested a trade from the team. Ingram has seen a lighter work load this season, but, like his coach Sean Payton, Ingram said that he is happy being in New Orleans and he directly contradicted the previous reports.

When he began discussing the recent trade rumors, he flat out denied that anything of that nature occurred as he pointed the finger at the media for fabricating the story.

“No, you guys (media) came up with that,” Ingram said, via Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “I don’t know who came up with that. I’ve never said that at all. I never asked for it. Don’t want it. Like I said, New Orleans is home. I love teammates, love my coaches, love this organization. I’m very grateful to be part of this organization. It’s a class organization. . . .

“Stuff comes from everywhere all of the time. People speculate things, assume things that may not be true. That’s OK. I know the truth and everybody in the organization knows the truth. Nothing like that ever came about. That’s all that matters. The air is clear here.”

While Ingram hasn’t had the success that he had hoped for in New Orleans, he surely understands that there is always an opportunity to work up the ladder.

Sure, he is currently the team’s No. 3 running back, but this is the NFL and injuries always happen. Ingram could be just one snap away from watching his work load increase and getting the opportunity he would like to have.
