With Lakers media day continuing on, some good news has been announced about veteran big man Pau Gasol.

Gasol who has battled some injuries has been cleared to fully participate in practice during training camp. This is something he’s going to need with the season just around the corner. I wrote the other day that Gasol is one of the players on this roster who needs to step it up the most.

His play has fallen off since the team won back to back championships a couple of seasons ago. Gasol had surgery back in May and should be ready to go for opening night. Despite being cleared for full participation, he may not practice for the first few days of camp.

Most of the offense is going to have to run through Gasol now that Howard is with the Rockets. So hopefully he’s able to stay healthy and boost up his numbers from last season. If not, I’m wondering if the front office would consider either trading the 33 year old or letting him walk away after the season is over.

This season will more than likely be a make or break year for Gasol.
