The National League Division Series against division rivals St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates kicks off tonight in St. Louis.

While the Cardinals prepare to kick off the series with the Bucs, infielder Allen Craig’s ability to play during the post-season remains uncertain. According to Tim McKernan on Twitter, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak says that Craig could play this post-season, but it’s not a high probability.

Craig missed the final four weeks of the regular season for the Cardinals with a Lisfranc injury. I’m sure Craig is itching to get his rehab over with and back in the lineup before the post-season is over for the Cardinals.

In other St. Louis Cardinals news, the Red birds have claimed outfielder Joey Butler off waivers from the Texas Rangers. The 27 year old outfielder has 12 home runs and 51 RBI’s with a batting line of .291/.395/.437 at the Triple-A level, but had four hits during 12 at bats and one RBI after eight games played with the big league club.

Butler should add some outfield depth for this St. Louis franchise.
