San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has quietly had a good season. Rivers has completed just under 74% of his passes for 1,199 yards, 11 touchdowns and only two interceptions.

Now they aren’t Peyton Manning’s numbers, but seriously, who could keep up with him. They are very solid numbers and could be overshadowed by the Chargers’ mediocre 2-2 record. Rivers has been getting noticed by at least on NFL analyst/pundit.

“Philip Rivers, by far,” Sterling Sharpe said when asked who was the most underrated quarterback this season on NFL Network’s “GameDay First.” “He’s got 75 wins, he’s completing 74 percent of his passes and I mean he has done it very quietly out West. Sometimes he wows us, because he lays the ball on the ground but I love the way Philip Rivers is playing. You got a healthy (Antonio) Gates, got Danny Woodhead, I like it. Most underrated guy in our league.”

Today, Rivers and the Chargers take on the Oakland Raiders in a late night game. Sooner or later though, they’re going to need to beat a team that isn’t in the disappointing NFC East division to really make a statement.

After the Raiders game they take on the Indianapolis Colts before taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of their bye in week 8.
