D.J. Fluker injured himself body slamming opponent

In case you missed it, one of the highlights from last week’s football games, San Diego Chargers guard D.J. Fluker went all WWE on Oakland Raiders linebacker Sio Moore with a body slam. The highlight block, a rarity, might have come at a cost. Fluker says he felt the

“I felt it then,” Fluker said, via the NFL.com. “A couple plays later, that’s when I really felt it late third quarter.”

If he could do it all over again, he might give up the highlight block to preserve his health. Aside from the health concerns, the play also cost his team 15 yards when he was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

“It wasn’t worth the injury,” Fluker said. “It was worth the play. … As an offensive lineman, I’m taught to finish, finish, finish.”

“They were excited,” Fluker said of his teammates. “They were like, ‘Man, I’ve never seen anything like that before.’ But I was worried about the consequences of the play.”

Fluker missed practice on Thursday but the injury doesn’t seem too serious or a threat to his availability for Monday night’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
