The Iowa State Cyclones travel to Lubbock to take on the Texas Tech Raiders. New head coach Kliff Kingsbury has Texas Tech off to a 5-0 start, and climbing the rankings. Currently they sit at No. 20, this is a game they’re expected to win, and by a lot.

Head to head, Texas Tech has the advantage having won 8 of 11 match-ups. Iowa State is 1-5 all-time in Lubbock coming into Saturday.

Date: Saturday, October 12
Start Time: 12:00 p.m. ET
Location: Lubbock, TX
Stadium: Jones AT&T Stadium
TV Info: FOX Sports 1
Live Stream: None that I know of

Unfortunately for the Raiders, they lost quarterback Baker Mayfield in the last game to a knee injury. An MRI revealed no structural damage but his status is unsure.

“If Baker can’t go then obviously (junior Michael Brewer would) get more reps than he’s been getting and just see how those other two guys are doing this week in practice,” Kingsbury said.

Texas Tech can’t take Iowa State too lightly, they almost beat the Texas Longhorns, but didn’t thanks to a controversial call on a fumble.

“To make a play on the 1-yard line with our backs against the wall…and (to) have it taken away from them, that’s hard to express. You don’t just put an arm around a guy and tell him it’s OK when that happens to him,” said Paul Rhoads. “I’ve got pretty good eyesight. The view I had of that gigantic screen in the north end zone showed a guy that was not down and our guy with the football.”

Iowa State will see if they can get a win in Lubbock on Saturday.
