The Carolina Panthers started the season 1-3. Since then, they’ve gone on a 5 game winning streak and sit in control of a wild card spot. That has a lot of fans jumping on their bandwagon, but they don’t necessarily want band wagon fans.

We don’t need no bandwagon,” Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson said, via Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer. “We know what we’ve got in this group and we just take it one game at a time. That’s how it’s got to be.”

One of their biggest knocks was not beating a quality team, which they now have with a win over the San Francisco 49ers.

“We heard all the naysayers say we hadn’t played anybody and blah, blah, blah. Well, we played somebody today on the road in their place, and beat them,” safety Mike Mitchell said. “So they shouldn’t have too much to say. We’re relevant. We’re here.”

“Defending NFC champions, 5 1/2 hour flight, one of the best running backs (in Frank Gore), the best running quarterback in the league, one of the best defenses in the league, and we come in, 10-9 ballgame, a slugfest,” cornerback Drayton Florence said. “We’ve just got to keep preparing every week. We’re going to get everybody’s best shot from here on out.”
