Kyle Williams caught 12 passes for just 113 yards for the San Francisco 49ers this season.  Surprisingly, that was good enough for second on the team behind Anquan Boldin amongst wide receivers.

Williams was released by the 49ers earlier this week and was subsequently claimed by the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs.

Following their week 10 bye, the Chiefs have a big test this Sunday against the Denver Broncos and Williams might be thrown right into the mix, according to a report from CSN Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.

”It’s a quick turnaround,” Williams said Thursday. ”We have a big one on Sunday, and hopefully I will be able to get in there and make something happen.”

According to the report, Williams is happy for the fresh start – who wouldn’t be after the tumultuous tenure he had in San Francisco?

”I’m not trying to run from anything that happened there or anything like that,” Williams said. ”I’m excited about the opportunity. I’m excited about joining a team that’s had as much success as we’ve had here. There were some times out there, definitely some learning experiences, but moving forward, I’m just excited about the future.”

Kansas City now features former 49ers draftees A.J. Jenkins, Williams and Alex Smith.
