The San Diego Chargers were in great position to get their fifth win this season and get right back into the thick of the race for the final Wildcard playoff spot if they had been able to beat the Miami DOlphins on Sunday. Sitting at 4-5 and facing a Dolphins team marred in controversy due to the ongoing Richie Incognito – Jonathan Martin story, it looked as though San Diego was poised to get to 5-5 and into a tie with the New York Jets for the final playoff spot.

Cornerback Johnny Patrick played well and had the first interception of his career, picking the ball off at the Miami 47-yard line. The Chargers scored four plays later for a 7-3 lead. But he would leave the game with an injury and the Chargers would go on to lose the game, and after the game, it was revealed that Patrick had a concussion:

It’s safe to say his status for next Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs is in doubt as he’ll undergo a bevy of concussion tests and needs to be cleared before Friday’s final practice session to be able to play Sunday.
