San Diego Chargers veteran tight end Antonio Gates is having a far better season than he did last year.

Last season Gates only recorded 49 receptions while picking up 538 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. His touchdown numbers currently sit at three on the year, but he has enough time to pad that stat.

This year he currently stands with 59 receptions for 685 receiving yards.

The Chargers are getting themselves prepared to host the 7-4 Cincinnati Bengals. They’re coming off a huge win against the once undefeated Kansas City Chiefs as they handed them their second loss of the season.

The momentum is clearly on San Diego’s side as they head into Sunday’s contest with another talented team.

Now Gates who is dealing with a hamstring missed practice yesterday and sat out today according to Michael Gehlken on Twitter.

Cincinnati has one of the toughest defenses in the league, but it won’t stop Rivers from targeting the big man at least five or six times during the game. That is if he’s cleared to play, but I don’t see why he wouldn’t be.
