Poor Robert Griffin III. Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan announced earlier in the week that Griffin would be benched for the remainder of the season in favor of Kirk Cousins and it is expected that Griffin will be ruled inactive for the final games to preserve his health for next season.

Unfortunately for the Redskins fans who were hoping to watch Griffin take the field one more time in 2013 at FedEx Field, they will get a harsh reminder that he is not playing.

While Kirk Cousins is expected to start against the division rival Dallas Cowboys in Week 16, the fans in attendance will look down at their ticket and see Griffin’s mug reminding them of the better, pre-drama days.

It goes to show that the Redskins were hoping for Griffin to return to his pre-injury form and close the home schedule against Dallas with a big win, but instead it will just go down as a piece of memorabilia that reminds the fans of the unreal drama that has surrounded the team thanks the the relationship between Shanahan and his benched quarterback.
