The New York Giants will likely be making a number of roster changes in the offseason and signing some key players to new contracts, but don’t expect wide receiver Hakeem Nicks to be among them. The free agent to be is expected to hit the market and it would be a surprise if they made a play to bring him back to the team, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.

New York is expected to hand out new deals to quarterback Eli Manning and possibly defensive end Justin Tuck, but don’t expect Nicks to get the Giants to open their checkbook.

“Hakeem Nicks is a bit less so, since at this point I think it’d be shocking if he were back, and even if he is it’d be on a team-friendly deal,” Graziano wrote in his Twitter mailbag on ESPN.

With Victor Cruz getting his money this year and the Giants confident in young wide receiver Rueben Randle, who they selected in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Nicks has become a disposable asset for the team.

Nicks will still get plenty of attention in the offseason and bolster someone’s receiving corp, but don’t expect it to be with New York.
