The New York Giants started off the season 0-6, before mounting a comeback of sorts. Still, a disappointing season has some fans calling for head coach Tom Coughlin to leave. Former Giants linebacker and legend Lawrence Taylor is one of them.

“He’s done all he can do for the Giants. If he wants to coach, I think he needs to take his philosophies to another team,” Taylor said, via Kevin Kernan of the New York Post. “After a while, the players just stop listening. I respect the man, but it’s time. As much as I like Coughlin and the job he has done, it’s time for a shakeup.”

It is an interesting view point. Taylor isn’t saying that Coughlin isn’t necessarily incapable of being an effective head coach in the NFL, he is saying that after a while players stop listening to a coach and sometimes a change is needed to get them to pay attention again. Basically, it’d be a move to get the Giants out of autopilot mode.
