The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to place wide receiver Cecil Shorts on injured reserve according to Ryan O’Halloran, the team beat writer for the Florida Times-Union.  Yesterday, the talented receiver discussed the groin injury that has been bothering him and the possibility of being shut down for the year.  Shorts went as far as saying that might be the best plan.  The Jaguars appear to agree and are not going to risk any further injury to Shorts in a season when the team is just 4-10.

The former Mount Union Purple Raider has become the most consistent receiving threat on the Jaguars and their most productive one this season, leading the team with 66 receptions for 777 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Along with Marcedes Lewis and hopefully Justin Blackmon among their weapons, the Jaguars could have a nice offense if they can find the right quarterback.

The Jaguars will host the Tennessee Titans this week, having won four of their last six games.  The Jaguars were able to stay competitive even short handed against the Buffalo Bills last week without Shorts, Maurice Jones-Drew and Jonathan Cyprien among others.
