When the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Utah Jazz Friday night, they’ll do so without veteran big man Pau Gasol.

Gasol did not make the trip to Sat Lake City with his teammates.

Gasol missed Saturday night’s 102-83 loss to the Golden State Warriors with an upper respiratory infection. He returned to the court Monday and scored 10 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists in 20 minutes during a 117-90 loss to the Phoenix Suns. Gasol also played on Christmas Day. He scored 13 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out three assists in 29 minutes in a 101-95 loss to the Miami Heat.

“Like anything else, you’re not 100 percent physically and you’re going to have shorter times of energy and stuff like that,” Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni told Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles. “He’ll get over it. He’ll be fine.”

The Lakers are listing Gasol as “day-to-day,” meaning he can still play in Friday night’s game.

On the season, Gasol is averaging 14.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.
