Without question, San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews had the best season of his career in 2013. For starters, he was able to avoid injury enough to play in all 16 games, and he made the most of his perfect attendance.

In helping the Chargers to reach the NFL Playoffs, Mathews rushed for a career-high 1,255 yards, which included six games in which he went over the century mark, most among all backs in the National Football League.

This has been the type of performance that the organization has been looking for out of Mathews since they drafted him back in 2010 with the 12th overall pick.

But as with any great rushing performance, credit must also go to the big guys up front that are opening those holes, and Mathews certainly realizes that.

For their efforts, Mathews went out and bought all of his offensive linemen Gucci watches as a thank you present for helping him perform his best in 2013.

Veteran tackle Willie Smith–who has only played in one game this season blocking for Mathews–expressed his shock at the sight of the bling in his locker last week.

"“I was like, ‘What the heck? Gucci? On my seat? At my locker? Wow,’ ” Smith said. “That was my response. I did not expect to get anything. … I didn’t know who it was from until I asked everybody, and they said it was Ryan.”"

Now I have to wonder what they may get if San Diego wins the Super Bowl and Mathews were to have a solid rushing stretch.
