There is a real chance that the New York Knicks will watch star small forward Carmelo Anthony leave in free agency this offseason, so they could be looking to swing a deal before the trade deadline that would allow the team to get something in return.

One of those options for the Knicks appears to be trading Anthony to the Los Angeles Clippers in a big deal that would bring Blake Griffin to the Big Apple.

The deal has reportedly been discussed internally, but there is no guarantee that anything will come to fruition.

From ESPN.com:

"With the looming possibility of Carmelo Anthony departing New York as a free agent this summer, New York Knicks officials have discussed proposing a trade to the Los Angeles Clippers for Blake Griffin, according to league sources.Sources say Clippers management also has had internal discussions about such a deal but that the clubs have not yet spoken to one another about a potential trade. As of now, neither team is certain it would make an Anthony-for-Griffin trade, the sources said."

It would clearly be a blockbuster deal for both teams and one that would shake up the NBA, but we will have to see if the internal discussions end up turning in to anything more serious.
