Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel resisted announcing his intentions regarding the NFL draft during the BCS National Championship game. According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, Manziel has signed with Select Sports Group and LeBron James’ friend Maverick Carter.

Manziel still hasn’t announced that he is entering the draft, but that seems like only a matter of time now. LeBron James and Manziel built a friendship in the offseason when Manziel’s personal life became the subject of intense media scrutiny.

“Probably more when some of the NCAA stuff was swirling around…a guy that really took me under his wing — and I’ll really forever be thankful for — is LeBron,” Manziel said on ESPN’s SVP and Russillo radio show in December, via the Dallas Morning News. “A guy that texted me every day whether it was words of advice or whatever it was. To check in on me and make sure I wasn’t getting crushed by all this or it wasn’t getting to me too much. I’m extremely thankful for him, just for reminding me every day that nothing matters other than your coaches, your family and your teammates and everything else outside is outside noise.”

With news that Cash Money was starting a sports agency to compete with Jay Z’s Roc Nation, there was some speculation he could sign there because of his friendship with Drake. Manziel meeting James was because of Drake though.

“Kind of what started me and LeBron’s relationship was happened to go to dinner in Toronto with Drake as well,” Manziel said. “So now when you add some of that stuff and some of the other things that go along with that, it does sound a little crazy.”
