Current NFL analyst and former NFL player Darren Sharper has been arrested on suspicion of rape. Sharper is currently an analyst with NFL Network who decided to suspend him without pay “until further notice.”

“Darren has been suspended without pay until further notice, effective immediately,” NFL Network said in a statement, via Pro Football Talk.  “Regarding the charges, as a matter of policy, we don’t comment on pending legal action.”

From TMZ’s initial report:

"Law enforcement sources tell us … the 38-year-old was arrested on Friday — and he’s been linked to 2 sexual assaults … one that occurred in Oct. 2013 and the other in January 2014.The identity of the alleged victim or victims has not been released.Sharper was booked at an L.A. jail — and was released on $200k bail."

The NFL Network will likely wait to see where this is headed before making a decision on Sharper. It comes as the season winds down and his use on the channel would likely have dropped anyways as the league heads into the offseason
