Earlier in the week, reports began to surface that Minnesota Vikings running back and reigning league MVP Adrian Peterson may need groin surgery. The reports of Peterson maybe needing surgery turned into reports that he will need surgery, and that is apparently happening on Thursday in Philadelphia.

According to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, Peterson is undergoing groin surgery on Thursday morning.

Vikings fans nervous over the idea of their franchise running back having to undergo surgery will take solace in the fact that Peterson is getting the procedure done as soon as possible. The injury is something that Peterson apparently was playing with throughout the season, and getting things corrected now is in the best interest of everyone.

The Vikings aren’t expecting Peterson to miss any work this offseason and there won’t be any drama like there was with his ACL injury. Besides, the Vikings have a few other priorities on their mind when it comes to getting better next season and Peterson’s groin isn’t high on the list.
