Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman dominated headlines last week, after bashing San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree following the NFC Championship game. Sherman has plenty of confidence and is not afraid to talk a good game, but he was all compliments when it came to the man he could be facing one-on-one in Super Bowl XLVIII.

When Sherman was asked about Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, he praised the receiver and even said that he believes Thomas is a top five receiver in the league.

“I definitely think he’s in the top five. He’s put together a heck of a year and done everything in his power to put himself in that conversation. He’s made the big catches. He’s made a lot of runs after the catch and turned small plays into huge plays,” Sherman said during a media session after the Seahawks arrived in New Jersey.

“I think that he’s a great receiver, and he’s a great competitor. It’s going to be a fun matchup between both of us, because we’re both intense competitors and good friends.”

That is much better than being called a “mediocre receiver.”

Sherman vs. Thomas could be one of the most exciting match ups on Super Bowl Sunday, but if Sherman’s past performances are any indication, Thomas may have a long day ahead of him as Sherman keeps him locked down for most of the game.
