Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy had an impressive rookie campaign and he has capped it off by being named the NFL’s 2013 Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year at Saturday night’s NFL Honors ceremony.

Lacy edged out San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen to win the honor.

After receiving his award from Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, Lacy took the time to crack up the crowd by looking over at Newton, who is an Auburn Tigers alum, and saying, “Roll Tide.”

Lacy finished the season with 1,178 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

When Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone, Lacy was a big reason why the Packers were able to remain in the playoff hunt.

If he can continue to perform at this level in his sophomore campaign, the Packers will be the favorites to once again bring home the NFC North title in 2014.
