UFC 169 is headlined by the Bantamweight title rematch between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao. Barao, the newly minted undisputed UFC Bantamweight champion, is looking to beat Faber for a second time and earn his first title defense as the undisputed champ. Faber, who is coming off four victories in 2013, will get his third shot at UFC gold tonight

Dominick Cruz, the former UFC Bantamweight champion, was set to return to the Octagon at UFC 169 after a very long injury layoff. Unfortunately for Cruz, he tore his groin in training, and was once again forced to sit on the sideline to mend his injury. The UFC was forced to strip Cruz of his Bantamweight title, and Renan Barao went from interim to undisputed UFC Bantamweight champion. Barao (31-1 (1), 6-0 UFC) has not lost since his first professional fight, and will look to continue his incredible streak tonight.

Cruz’s arch nemesis, Urijah Faber (30-6, 6-2 UFC), took the championship fight on just three week’s notice. Faber, who trains all year round at Team Alpha Male, has said that he never lets opportunities pass him by and he is ready to win the title tonight.

Round 1: Nothing going early. Barao stalking Faber and pushes him to the fence. Big shots missing from Faber. Huge right hook rocks Urijah. Faber is dropped and badly hurt. Renan is pouring it on, but Faber looks like he recovered. Faber to his feet, but another big right hook from Barao. Big overhand right from Barao and Faber is turtled up. Faber gives a thumbs up, but Herb Dean calls a stop to the fight. Questionable decision, but Faber was definitely hurt. Barao knocks out Urijah Faber and retains the Bantamweight title.

Official Decision: Renan Barao defeats Urijah Faber by TKO Round 1 (2:42)
