It’s that time of year when NFL draft prospects give their best campaign speeches to the team owning the No. 1 pick and we’ve already seen Jadeveon Clowney and Johnny Manziel come forward with why they should be the first pick, and now you can add former UCLA Bruins linebacker Anthony Barr to the group.

When asked to put himself in the shoes of an NFL general manager, Barr didn’t shy away from making his case for the Houston Texans to draft the outside linebacker.

"“I think it’s simple. He’s the best player available in this year’s draft. He’s going to help our team win games, potentially championships. But he’s also more than a football player,” Barr told Fox Sports Daily at snappytv.com via CFB 24/7. “He’s a good character, somebody you can trust. So I just think all those things combined make me the perfect package.”"

Barr was mentioned as a potential pick had he came out last year and was inside the top five draft prospects for much of the regular season, but in recent weeks has fallen on many experts’ draft rankings, but is still expected to be one of the top linebackers taken in May’s draft because of his ability to rush the quarterback.

However, with three quarterbacks vying for the top spot along with Clowney and two elite offensive tackles, Barr shouldn’t hold his breath about being the top pick, but you have to love his confidence.
