A few months ago, the meatiest trade rumor making the rounds had Omer Asik at the center of a giant blockbuster deal. What a difference a few months can make, as 48 hours before the trade deadline passes it appears that no one is calling the Houston Rockets to inquire about the Turkish big man.

After the trade with the Boston Celtics fell through, the Rockets have gone back and forth about what to do with Asik, but it appears they’re going to be keeping him through the deadline. Sam Amick from USA Today states that Houston is having no ongoing discussions about an Asik trade, but doesn’t mention if that’s by design or by default.

The Rockets implied earlier this year that they’d be keeping Asik but it has been unclear whether that’s because they want to keep him or because no one wants his bad contract. Either way, the Rockets were once looking to be active but it appears they’re going to get skunked at the deadline.
