As we’re learning with the ongoing situation between Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin, the NFL has a bit of an issue with tolerance, and some of it is racially motivated. That’s not just in the locker room neither, as use of racial slurs are apparently fairly prevalent and widely used on the field during play.

However, according to a report from Jason LaCanfora of CBS, there may soon be some repercussions for use of racial slurs, as stated by John Wooten, the head of the Fritz Pollard Alliance that monitors diversity in the league.

"“I will be totally shocked if the competition committee does not uphold us on what we’re trying to do,” Wooten said. “We want this word to be policed from the parking lot to the equipment room to the locker room. Secretaries, PR people, whoever, we want it eliminated completely and want it policed everywhere.”"

According to the policy, there would be a 15-yard penalty for use of the n-word, which again, has been widely known to be used rather loosely on the field of play.
