The San Diego Chargers have made a cap move by releasing fullback Le’Ron McClain, according to Mike Gehlken of the U-T San Diego. The move creates $2.5 million in cap room but also leaves $833,334 in dead money.

Gehlken writes:

"The 29-year-old was scheduled to enter the final season of his three-year deal. His release was expected, given this year’s cost and last year’s usage. He played 154 offensive snaps, about nine per game, while also contributing on special teams.Zach Boren, a January signing, is the only fullback left on the roster."

It is one of several moves the Chargers have made ahead of free agency. They also restructured the contract of wide receiver Eddie Royal, also reported by Gehlken for the U-T San Diego. We’ll see if the Chargers are done making moves.
