When the free agent negotiation period opened on Saturday, it appeared that the Baltimore Ravens were running the risk of losing offensive tackle Eugene Monroe to the Miami Dolphins or another team who could be seeking help along the offensive front.

However, there has been a new development on the Monroe front and things are beginning to look better for Baltimore, who said re-signing Monroe was a priority.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Monroe and the Ravens have had open dialogue and “there’s now optimism” that he will return to Baltimore.

The Miami Dolphins were previously believed to be a potential suitor for Monroe, but now they are reportedly expected to sign Branden Albert. The Arizona Cardinals were also a possibility, but they are now focused on Jared Veldheer.

That opens the door for Baltimore to retain Monroe and they are ready to seize the opportunity.
