The Cincinnati Bengals, who have already lost defensive end Michael Johnson to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, decided to bring back on of their own defensive players on Tuesday night.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Bengals have re-signed safety Taylor Mays.

Most pundits don’t seem all that excited about the idea of the Bengals bringing Mays back.

Mays, a highly touted high school that starred in college for the Southern Cal Trojans, was selected in the second round of the of the 2010 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.

Things went poorly for Mays in San Francisco and he found himself with the Bengals just a year later.

Mays has primarily been a safety in his NFL career, but has played some linebacker for the Bengals.

Mays made 19 tackles in eight games for the Bengals in 2013 before the Bengals placed him on Injured Reserve with a dislocated shoulder.
