The Carolina Panthers and veteran wide receiver Steve Smith seem to have different visions of the future, so it would only make sense for them to take advantage of the open market to add a capable wide receiver to the roster.

With Smith’s release appearing to be just around the corner, the Panthers are expected to land free agent wide receiver Hakeem Nicks of the New York Giants.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network shared the news during an appearance on NFL Total Access.

While many believe that Nicks could be slowing down as injuries catch up to him, the Panthers would allow Nicks to return home on a smaller deal to prove he still has plenty left in the tank.
