One of the biggest moves of the opening day of free agency wasn’t a signing at all, it was a trade. The Miami Dolphins moved Jonathan Martin to the San Francisco 49ers for a draft pick but they weren’t the only team to have interest in the offensive lineman.

According to FOXSports’ Mike Garafolo, both the Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings showed an interest in acquiring Martin before he was dealt to the Niners on late Tuesday night.

Many had actually pegged the Colts as the team to land Martin, as quarterback Andrew Luck has a history with Martin dating back to their days at Stanford. Instead, it was former Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh who acquired Martin, leaving Luck in the cold.

Minnesota’s interested in Martin was a bit of a surprise as well, but given their need to offensive line assistance, it wasn’t a complete shock.
