If Barry Bonds was hoping that his week as the special Giants hitting instructor during Spring Training was a job audition, somebody might want to tell team manage Bruce Bochy.

Bonds told MLB.com that he would like to make the situation a bit more permanent.

"“It’s up to Bochy,” Bonds said. “He needed to see how I responded to the guys, how the guys responded to me. It’s not what I think, it’s what they think. I’ve had my time. I’ve had my career. Those days are gone. It’s about what contribution they think I bring to the organization.”"

The funny thing is that Bochy was also quoted saying he hopes Bond continues – at least the week-long role apparently.

"“The players got a lot out of what Barry was talking about, both the mental and physical part of hitting,” said Bochy. “He seemed to enjoy his time here, too. He’s really into helping the hitters here. They sense that, that he wants to help. We hope he comes back.”"

Maybe Bonds should have someone pass Bochy a note during the 7th Inning Stretch saying ‘if you like me and want to hire me check this box.’  That should get things cleared up.
