NFL Free Agency Rumors: Minnesota Vikings still trying to sign Henry Melton

Free agent defensive end Henry Melton is set to meet with the Dallas Cowboys this weekend, but that doesn’t mean the teams who have previously met with him are not interested. While the Seattle Seahawks reportedly were close to signing Melton this weekend, the Minnesota Vikings are also keeping an eye on Melton and are reportedly continuing an open dialog with the defensive end as he meets with the Cowboys.

Melton is the best defensive end talent not he market next to Jared Allen, and the Vikings have been ruled out for now on Allen. Adding Melton would continue the Vikings offseason push to get their defense up to the level Mike Zimmer needs it to be at but he’s not a lock to sign.

Minnesota has competition for Melton and they may have to end up looking at a reunion with Jared Allen or drafting an edge rusher in May to fill their need on the end of the defensive line.

Melton is a defensive tackle. Try learning a players position before writing an article about him.

  • David Mallow

Melton is a DT but he has lined up at DE on multiple occasions. However I do not think we need him either way. Spend the money on other key needs..

    • Wayne Davis

I agree with David … We got Joseph and Evans we can pick up another good DT in later rounds since the draft is deep at DT … Should be LB first round

    • Alika Launiu

U clearly don’t know what a Zimmer defense implys…He wants to make sure that he can rotate guys….that means Floyd Joseph and Melton would always be rotating so they don’t get tired in the middle…Maybe on Madden with the Stamina turned off we have a good front 4….but not now…Melton would be a great addition and would keep Joseph and Floyd fresh all game…

  • Clint Ronnenberg

Melton is a 3-Technique DT, not a DE.

  • Michael

This article made me realize what a pitiful site this is, this guy doesn’t even know what he is talking about.

Please get a new job dude! Do you even watch football and understand the game???

I dont know to much about melton . We need. A DT that can eat up blocks . That position alone can make Minnesota a good defense. It starts up front.
