The Detroit Lions could use some cap relief and that would come by extending the contract of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, but an extension with the grizzled Pro Bowler won’t come cheap nor easy.

Detroit wasn’t even sure if they’d be in this situation a few years ago but Suh’s solid play since then and the reigning in of some of his outlandish behavior has put the Lions in a position where they have nothing other do than re-sign Suh long term.

Suh is the best defensive tackle in the game right now and he’d command top dollar in a market that wouldn’t take long to see him find a new home. That’s the scenario facing the Lions as the final year of his rookie contract kicks in this season. Detroit won’t be letting Suh walk, but keeping him in the Motor City won’t be an easy task.
