It has been a tough market for free agent running backs, but one veteran back has found a new home as former Denver Broncos first round pick Knowshon Moreno has signed with the Miami Dolphins, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Ian Rapoport tweeted the deal is worth $3.million. Moreno, 26, is coming off a career-high 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns on 241 carries after resurrecting his career that appeared to flame out after his rookie season in 2009.

In addition to having a career year running the ball, Moreno also demonstrated the ability to be a reliable option catching passes out of the backfield as he reeled in 60 passes for 548 yards and three touchdowns. The receptions and yards smashed his previous highs while the three scores matches his output in 2010.

With Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas failing to get the job done in the Dolphins backfield, Moreno gives the team a toughness the team lacked and gives balance to the aerial production of Ryan Tannehill, Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline.
