The Chicago Bears introduced their new defensive end Jared Allen at a press conference on Monday. Some think Allen’s play could declining after signing a four-year, $32 million deal. To his doubters, Allen had a very simple message.

“My play speaks for itself,” Allen said. “The way I finished the year I think spoke loud and clear.”

“Just watch me play this year. I’m a full year off surgery on my shoulder,” he continued. “I want to believe in what I’m playing for and who I’m playing for, and that’s why I’m here. I believe in the product they’re putting on the field.”

Jared Allen went on to say that he didn’t plan on retiring, that he simply wasn’t going to cash checks and wanted to compete immediately for a Super Bowl. He also said he thinks the Bears are ‘closer than people think’ to winning Super Bowl.
