Michael Vick hasn’t been a member of the New York Jets for long, but there are already people coming forward in hopes of keeping him away from their facilities when the team opens up training camp later this summer.

More than 2,500 people have signed a petition on change.org that is asking for SUNY Cortland president Erik J. Bitterbaum to keep Vick from stepping onto the school’s campus.

“If we welcome Vick onto our campus, we are complicit in his crimes. We are sending the message that, for money and publicity, we will turn a blind eye to the horrors of dogfighting. I don’t want to be that person, and I don’t want SUNY Cortland to abandon its principles so easily,” the petition states.

The Jets and SUNY Cortland did not comment when approached by the New York Daily News.

It is highly unlikely that a ban would actually be handed down, and if it was the Jets would likely look to change the location of their 2014 camp.
