The Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets are not supposed to be in the playoffs, yet they’re not only in but they’re playing each other in the first round. It was looking like the Raptors were just going to tank their way through another season but after trading Rudy Gay to the Sacramento Kings, the team has been on a tear and are the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Something similar can be said for a Nets team that looked shaky from the very start, especially after hiring first time head coach Jason Kidd. While it looked like the while Kidd experiment could implode — and you’d better believe it nearly did more than a few times — the Nets pulled things together late in the season and are now a dark horse to make it to the Finals.
