If there’s one thing you can’t fault cornerback Richard Sherman on, it’s his level of loyalty and respect to those who show him the same. For this reason, it’s hard to see the Pro Bowler ever leaving the Seahawks unless the do him wrong — kind of like the ongoing grudge with former college coach Jim Harbaugh.

But the Sehawks know they have the best defensive back in football on their roster and want to lock him up with a fat long term deal. According to NFL Network reporter Albert Breer, despite negotiations still going on a price not yet having been settled upon, Sherman recognizes his new deal as a sign of respect from Seattle.

“Whatever they feel I am due. I will take it as respect,” Sherman said. “It’s all about respect in this game and the only way people show respect is the dollars. We’ll see what happens.”

Sherman is loud and likes to talk but he’s one of the few athletes who can back it up and then some. He’s gotten in just about everybody’s face and as a result he’s won over a ton of fans. But his biggest fans are in the Seahawks front office and the respect Sherman is talking about is clearly mutual.
