The Seattle Seahawks decided to release wide receiver Sidney Rice following the season, he was scheduled to make $8.5 million in 2014. They then re-signed him bringing him back to the team on a more friendly one-year $1 million deal.

Part of the hesitance, aside from the very lofty 2014 contract, is his recover from a torn knee ligament. Seahawks general manager John Schneider doesn’t seem worried about Rice’s health and expects him to be ready for the start of the 2014 season.

From the Associated Press:

"Rice should be fully recovered from a torn knee ligament by the time the Seattle Seahawks start defense of their Super Bowl title, general manager John Schneider said Wednesday."

The Seahawks will need help at wide receiver after leading receiver Golden Tate bolted for the Detroit Lions in free agency. Rice caught only 15 passes for 231 yards before his season ended in late October.
