Charles Barkley was on the Dan Patrick Show on Friday morning to give his thoughts on the NBA playoffs and the Donald Sterling scandal that has dominated the NBA world since his racist comments were revealed last weekend. Following his lifetime ban from the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers owner will be forced to sell the team and Barkley believes if it’s not done swiftly, there will be serious problems next season.

How serious?

Barkley tells Patrick, “No basketball is going to be played next year if Donald Sterling still owns the Clippers.”

We have heard of possible boycotts if NBA commissioner Adam Silver did not give him the lifetime and $2.5 million dollar fine, including the Golden State Warriors walking off the court, but it’s hard to believe the entire league would shut down if the Clippers sale is not complete.

This is going to be a $1 billion dollar sale and have a number of potential buyers so it’s going to drag on no matter how much the league, players and fans would love for it to be done as quickly as going through the drive-thru and ordering lunch.

However, this has the potential to get ugly if the NBA season approaches and the sale is dragging on, but you’d have to think the league and its owners would force the issue and avoid any of this ugliness lingering into next season.
