On Tuesday, the NBA announced that Los Angeles Clippers’ president Andy Roeser would be taking a leave of absence beginning immediately.

Ben Golliver of Sports Illustrated has the scoop.

"The move comes days after the NBA announced that a new CEO would be appointed to lead the organization as the league pursues an ouster of Sterling, who was caught on tape making a series of racist remarks.“[Roeser’s leave of absence] will provide an opportunity for a new CEO to begin on a clean slate and for the team to stabilize under difficult circumstances,” an NBA spokesman said in a statement."

This should come as no surprise in the wake of the Donald Sterling controversy. Sterling, the Clippers’ owner, was recorded by his girlfriend, V. Stiviano when he scolded her for posting photos with Magic Johnson and other African-Americans. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling from the NBA for life and fined him $2.5 million, the maximum amount he could be fined. Silver and the NBA are also trying to push Sterling out of an ownership role and this is just the start.

The Clippers will now have a new CEO to “oversee” the organization, cutting nearly all ties Sterling had with the team.
